If you’ve read my blog or taken any of my photography classes you will know how passionate I am about documenting your everyday. And that’s exactly what the 12of12 project highlights — everyday life.

It’s all about capturing life as it happens.

It’s about really beginning to see things you have looked at for years, but never noticed.

It’s about appreciating your routines and finding gratitude in the mundane.

It’s about strengthening relationships and seeing the good around you.

The 12of12 project has this way of helping you see life as you’ve never seen it before because discovering moments to capture helps you to become more aware and conscience of what is around you.

When the day is done or the year has passed, not only will you have an assortment of photos that you love, but you will begin to see how beautiful your life is. I like to think of it like gratitude. When you express it daily you begin to see your blessings more and more, and so it is with everyday photography. The more you become acquainted with what’s around you, the more you appreciate what you have.

And it’s fun!

Each month on the 12th grab your camera of choice and go about documenting your day.

Yep, it’s that easy.

Capture everything from your everyday routines, to places you go, to activities you do, to people you’re with, to objects you general see.
Do what I do.

Search for moments that capture your attention, moments you want to hold onto and never forget.

Remember you only get to live this day once, what do you want to make sure to document?

When the day is over look through your photos and choose 12 you feel best represent your day and put them into a collage (example above). This, of course, is a step you could skip (perhaps you want each individual photo to stand on it’s own), however, I do think grouping your images into a collage helps to better convey the story of your day.
You can create this collage using Photoshop or Photoshop Elements.
